Sunrise/Sunset by Ute Carson

We tumble into life
and during our journey
we often fumble and fall.
First there is the Me stage
where we need tending and nurture.
Then the river forks,
one life echoes another,
and we become Us.
With age we return to the Me period
preparing for a final departure,
hoping for a cushioned falling
into the arms of those
who first cared for us.
